This is possible premature but...

>From the weeks meeting - one of the things that came out was DNS
Security from DOS attacks on ccTLD's... and the suggestion was to have
one or two Nameservers to be AnyCast instances.

(I've ben playing with the concept for a year or so though...)

Current - there are five well known companies running AnyCast services.
(ie - Autonimica, Community DNS, - etc)

I'm looking at being the sixth.

I'm proposing having two instances in America, two in Europe and two in
the far east.
Within Africa - I'm looking at one each in Egypt, Kenya and South Africa
- and have initially contacted people in these areas. There is room for
more and first thoughts for criteria are:-

a) Must have an IXP (be able to transit the anycast feed to the
UK/USA ?)
b) Should have IPv6 connectvity - preferably native.
c) Prefer to be a Regional Hub (or plans of) (not just the local
country)

The Organisation should be "For Profit" rather than "Non-profit" - but
not out to hurt people....

ie Small ccTLD's would be very low cost or free

If an Instance provides the Hardware - costs would be lower (but not
nesessarily free - there are "Out-of-Africa machines that need to be
purchased!)

An Instance would be:-
a) Cisco Router (with at least two GigE ports)
b) Switch?
c) Intel machine: 4 CPU's, 4/8 Gig RAM, Mirrored SCSI Drives.

How do people feel - Support ???
